DEMOCRACY AND ECONOMIC GROWTH IN MIST COUNTRIES: AN EMPIRICAL ANALYSIS

Studies on institutions, which are one of the main determinants economic growth, have been increasing intensively in recent years. In this context, despite many empirical and theoretical studies relationship between democracy there is no consensus about effect growth. This study analyzes growth for MIST (Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea, Turkey) countries. Firstly, cross-sectional dependence was examined 1973–2021 period. The second generation panel unit root test (Pesaran CADF (2007)) chosen because among series. stationarity variables at I(1) ensured. Having determined cointegration (Westerlund Durbin-H (2008)) series, Panel CCE estimator used to estimate coefficients.
